Adventure Awaits

A Two-Day Escape In Cornelia And Beyond

Day 1
Morning
Start your day off with a hike on the Gorge Floor Trail at Tallulah Falls. This is a one-of-a-kind experience that allows you to hike down to the gorge floor and have the closest view and access to the falls. This 2.5-mile round trip hike does require a free permit that can be obtained at the Interpretive Center. If this trail is too difficult, we recommend High Bluff Trail (4 miles round trip) or The Bill and Dustie Mackay Trail (3 miles round trip), formerly known as The Shortline Trail.

Afternoon
On your way to Demorest, stop by Blue Creek Farmhouse Market and restaurant for local fresh produce, delicious homemade food, and locally made ice cream! Next, Immerse yourself in beautiful and awe-inspiring art at the Mason-Scharfenstein Art Museum on Piedmont University’s Campus! Be sure to check the website for more information on current exhibits. Or for golf fans, explore the beautiful and spacious golf course at The Orchard Golf and Country Club. This golf course is a must visit for any player, regardless of skill level. Be sure to check out their website for rates and more information.

Evening
If you’re feeling dangerous, head to The Axe Armory. Take part in the exhilarating sport of axe throwing, and challenge your friends in a competition to see who can come out on top! Finally, head next door to Bigg Daddy’s restaurant and tavern for freshly prepared food and locally crafted drinks. This sports bar is a popular destination for the locals and sports fans alike!

Day 2
Morning
Start your morning off with a relaxing walk at Lake Russell on the Sourwood, Ladyslipper, or Lake Russell Trails. Enjoy a kayaking adventure across the lake, or fish off the dock for a peaceful and serene moment in the mountains.

Afternoon
Next, hop on 365 and see what Sweet Acre Farms, Habersham’s local winery, has to offer! Sweet Acre Farms specializes in fruit, or “country wines”, that are reminiscent of the wines their southern families used to make in the past. Sit on the wraparound porch with friends to enjoy Sweet Acre Farm’s specialty wines and elevate your experience.

Evening
Next, head to historic downtown Clarkesville and eat at The Attic. This service station turned restaurant is a popular choice among the locals and pays homage to its history through restored pictures from the 1930s and 40s. Then, walk around downtown to enjoy locally owned and operated stores, such as Elizabeth And Company, Wildernest, and the new ice cream shop, Scoops! Finally, end your trip by checking out Habersham Community Theater’s season to see if you can catch a show! Check out the community theater’s website for show dates and times.
